Art On The Porches for Kids!

With Ruskin Ave closed to traffic, kids feel free to visit with their friends and explore everything Art On The Porches has to offer.  They will find several things that will delight them.

Hands On Art!

Visit the tent at The Lipe Mansion lawn, 114 Summit/ Ruskin for art activities throughout the event.

All ages are encouraged to participate.

All day:

Stop by to paint plywood panels for windows of Syracuse Land Bank properties.

Neighbors- donations of unwanted exterior paint are welcome!

 

11- noon                                  A Little Art to Start

Katy & Chris Barrett, creators of The Little Strathmore Schoolhouse, will offer a sensory art table;

toddlers- preschoolers will love getting their hands into this activity.

12:30                                      Art On The Porches Parade with the Unity Street Band

 1-2 pm                                      Make Your Mark 

Try your hand at something artistic: Create a gift, discover a new medium, make your mark, send a message, with a variety of supplies.

2-3 pm                                      Imagine the Fun

Join with local experts to contribute your ideas to park and playground design- we want to see & hear from the kids what a dream playspace would look like. This discussion and workshop will offer model-making with recycled materials and sketching for all ages. Create your dream playground design!

We will welcome Syracuse’s new Deputy Parks Commissioner, Julie Lafave and Glen Lewis from the Office of Planning & Development, along with neighbor Jason Evans, artist & architect of [re]think Syracuse 

3-4 pm                                      Extraordinary & Garden Variety Art  

Use fresh leaves and flowers to print, paint, and sketch as still life. Repurpose household objects to craft funky garden ornaments, paint a plant marking sign for West Colvin Community Gardenor a special stone for CNY Rocks. Gently used children’s books for Little Free Library #31036are gratefully accepted.

Star Joker Performance

5 pm

Wrapping up our musical program this year is a special performance from Star Joker.  Featuring the progeny of members of Syracuse bands such as The Barndogs and Pearly Baker’s Best, and drawing on influences from jazz and blues, Star Joker members are all Strathmore neighbors
